Now it's my iPad that is sitting up on the counter rather than a cookbook. I keep all of my recipes in an app called Paprika, which enables me to download and personalize recipes from the web or enter them myself. This is a great help in the kitchen as it will scale any recipe to different sizes and I can forward them to friends by email.

Why not create a humorous cookbook for your new daughter-in-law, describing your son's eating habits, likes and dislikes over the years? I'm sure you'll be able to pull up some great baby shots with a face full of food, or maybe eating ice cream at the beach, or devouring his birthday cake when he was three.

My daughter and I had a great time making a Christmas Cookie book a few years ago. We gathered the recipes that we have used every year, usually judging favorites by how messy the pages were in the cookbook itself.
